This tiny commercial hub in western Eritrea, Agordat sits alongside the Barka River and once served as the capital of the Barka province. The town holds a large mosque and is known as a centre for livestock and gold. It also carries historical weight as a cradle of the Eritrean revolution, with mountains accessible nearby.
