Ait Benhaddou
Morocco
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, Aït Benhaddou is a fortified earthen-clay village on the historic caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakesh, and one of the best-preserved examples of traditional southern Moroccan architecture. The ksar sits at the water's edge with mountains close by, and the surrounding area offers scenic viewpoints over the clay towers and defensive walls that have made it a draw for filmmakers and travellers alike.
