Anapa
Russia
This Black Sea resort town in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, Anapa has functioned as a health and climate spa destination and ranks among the country's largest children's resort centres. Its ancient roots run deep: Greek settlers established a city here in the 6th century BCE, calling it Gorgippia, and the site later passed through Genoese and Ottoman control before a fortress built in 1781 became the focus of Russo-Turkish conflicts, with Russia annexing the town in 1829.
