Argegno
Como · Italy
This tiny Lake Como village on the western shore sits where the River Telo meets the lake, and the waters just offshore mark the deepest point of any lake in Italy. A cable car — reportedly the steepest in the country, with a maximum gradient of 95% — connects the village to the mountain settlement of Pigra in around five minutes. Argegno has a good concentration of cafés and restaurants for its size, several historic churches, and a regular ferry stop.
