Baeza
Jaén · Spain
Baeza holds some of the best-preserved Italian Renaissance architecture in Spain, recognised alongside neighbouring Úbeda as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. This Andalusian town in the province of Jaén was a key point in the Christian reconquest of al-Andalus, passing to the Kingdom of Castile in 1226, and its public buildings and churches took their monumental form during a period of growth across the 16th century. The walkable centre is dense with historic churches and olive oil production remains central to the local economy.
