This little Texas Hill Country city that calls itself the "Cowboy Capital of the World," a title rooted in its role as a staging area for the Great Western Cattle Trail during the last cattle drives of the 1800s. Founded in the 1850s by Polish Catholic settlers from Silesia, Bandera sits along the water in the Edwards Plateau hill terrain and holds a striking number of churches for a community its size.
