Beveren

This East Flemish town on the left bank of the Scheldt sits between Ghent and Antwerp, with the Waasland port facing Antwerp across the river. Its compact centre holds a concentration of cafés and restaurants, and the surrounding tidal landscapes along the Scheldt make it a practical base for cycling trips to historic riverside villages such as Doel and the settlements between Temse and Rupelmonde. One of the oldest political centres in the Waasland region, it traces its history back to at least the late 16th century.
