This northern Montenegrin town on the Lim River, Bijelo Polje has a walkable centre with cafés and restaurants set against mountain terrain. Its most significant monument is the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, built in 1190 as a foundation of the Hum prince Miroslav, where the celebrated Miroslav Gospel was written. The 1741 Gušmirović Mosque and the 1938 Nikoljac Bridge round out a compact collection of cultural and historical landmarks.
