Bungoma
Kenya
A western Kenyan town at the foot of Mount Elgon, Bungoma grew from a Uganda Railway terminus established in the 1920s into a regional centre whose economy runs on agriculture, aided by reliable rainfall. The surrounding area supports sugar production, and the Webuye paper mill operates nearby. The town sits close to the Uganda border and serves as the seat of Bungoma County.
