Busteni

A popular year-round mountain resort in Romania's Prahova Valley, Bușteni sits at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains and serves as the main gateway into that range for skiing, hiking, and climbing. The Heroes' Cross, a large WWI commemorative monument atop Caraiman Peak, is lit at night and visible from across the town. Nearby rock formations — including one resembling the Great Sphinx of Giza — draw additional visitors. The town has a café and restaurant scene that punches above its tiny size.
