Canhas

This pocket-sized coastal parish in Madeira's municipality of Ponta do Sol, Canhas stretches from the Atlantic shore in the south up toward the mountains of Paul da Serra in the north, with an elevation range that produces varied scenery across a compact area. A road through the parish connects Calheta and Funchal, and an expressway built in 2010 improved links to the municipal seat. The parish has a café and restaurant scene reasonable for its size, and the surrounding terrain offers scenic viewpoints.
