Cargeghe

A pocket-sized Sardinian village a short distance from Sassari, Cargeghe holds more historic religious architecture than its size might suggest, including a 12th-century Romanesque countryside church, Santa Maria 'e Contra, and a parish church dating to the 15th and 16th centuries. The nearby necropolis of S'Elighe Entosu, with its series of Neolithic domus de janas tombs, adds an archaeological dimension to a visit.
