This town on the Ploučnice river in the Liberec Region, Česká Lípa has a well-preserved historic centre protected as an urban monument zone, with a walkable core of cafés and restaurants. Founded between 1305 and 1319 under the Ronovci noble family — notably Jindřich z Lipé — and later developed by Albrecht von Wallenstein, who established a monastery and school here, the town sits within reach of mountains and several UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region.
