Eleventh-century Jain caves dedicated to the Tirthankara Chandraprabh are the centrepiece of this town in Maharashtra's Nashik district, and the site holds particular significance in Jain tradition as a former major centre of the faith. Chandwad also contains the Rangmahal, a fort associated with Ahilyadevi Holkar, along with the Renuka Devi temple and Chandreshwar temple. The town is surrounded by mountains and sits within reach of water.
