Cicmany
Slovakia
This small Slovak village in the mountains of the Žilina Region is known for its preserved folk architecture, protected within a reserve established in 1977 and listed among Slovakia's heritage sites. The distinctive geometric white patterns painted on the dark timber houses give Čičmany an appearance unlike most other villages in the country, and a handful of cafés and restaurants serve the visitors who come to see them.
