Ciudad de la Paz
Equatorial Guinea
Ciudad de la Paz — also known as Djibloho or Oyala — became the capital of Equatorial Guinea on 2 January 2026, replacing Malabo and shifting the country's administrative centre from the island of Bioko to the mainland. A planned city designed by the Portuguese architecture firm FAT (Future Architecture Thinking), it sits in the Djibloho province near Mengomeyén, with easy access to water nearby. Its construction, initiated by President Teodoro Obiang, has drawn criticism from political opposition.
