Ciudad Jimenez

Mexico

Known as "the land of hot springs" for the thermal waters found across its municipality, Ciudad Jiménez sits in the Bolsón de Mapimí at the southeastern edge of Chihuahua, near the border with Durango. Founded in 1753 and renamed in 1826 to honor Independence War hero José Mariano Jiménez, the city gained its status in 1898 and serves as the first city encountered when entering Chihuahua from the south.
