Criacao Velha

This civil parish on the island of Pico in the Azores, Criação Velha sits within one of Portugal's most distinctive wine-growing landscapes, where vineyards spread across volcanic terrain close to the Atlantic coast. Part of the municipality of Madalena, the parish was established in 1799 and lies a short distance from the municipal seat, with the wider region home to several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
