A rail junction town in southern Poland's Silesian Voivodeship, Czechowice-Dziedzice sits close to the mountains and within reach of several UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region. Formed in 1951 from the medieval villages of Czechowice and Dziedzice, it developed through the late 19th century as a railway hub and industrial centre. A compact centre holds cafés and restaurants, and the town lies right on the water.
