Dambulla

Dambulla, a town in Sri Lanka's Central Province, is home to the country's largest and best-preserved cave temple complex, with the nearby Sigiriya rock fortress adding a second major draw in the same area. The wider region also holds the largest rose quartz mountain range in South Asia and the Ibbankatuwa prehistoric burial site, which has yielded evidence of indigenous civilisations predating Indian influence on the island. The town itself serves as Sri Lanka's main vegetable distribution hub, sitting at a major road junction north of Kandy.
