Damietta
Egypt
Damietta is an Egyptian port city on the Nile Delta's eastern branch, close to where the river meets the Mediterranean near Ras al-Bar. The city's working harbour is one of Egypt's busiest, and the surrounding delta landscape is dense with guava farms and palm groves — the coast stretching from Ras al-Bar westward is lined with millions of date palms, some of which are exported as far as Greece and China. Damietta is also a member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
