Dessau

Dessau-Roßlau holds two UNESCO World Heritage listings: the Bauhaus buildings, which made this Saxony-Anhalt town a landmark of 20th-century architecture and design, and the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm, a network of landscape parks and buildings laid out in the late 18th century during the Enlightenment. The town sits at the confluence of the Mulde and Elbe rivers, with the surrounding meadows protected as a biosphere reserve, and was historically the capital of the Principality of Anhalt.
