Domodossola
Verbano-Cusio-Ossola · Italy
A walkable town in Piedmont's Ossola valley with a centre full of cafés and historic churches, Domodossola is the main hub of the Val d'Ossola, sitting at the confluence of several Alpine valleys where the Toce river flows through the plain. The Peruvian aviation pioneer Jorge Chávez died here in 1910 following an airplane crash, and the town draws independent travellers heading into the surrounding mountains and the wider region's UNESCO-listed landscapes.
