Ecouen
France
The Château d'Écouen, built between 1538 and 1555 for the constable Anne de Montmorency, houses the Musée national de la Renaissance — the largest Renaissance museum in France — in this pocket-sized town in the Val-d'Oise department, north of Paris. The town centre has a modest café and restaurant scene, and the wider Île-de-France region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
