Eskişehir
Eskisehir · Türkiye
A large university city in northwestern Turkey where the Porsuk River runs through the centre, Eskişehir is known for its lively café and restaurant scene, fuelled by a substantial student population spread across three universities. The city is also the world's primary source of meerschaum, a soft white mineral mined only in this region of Turkey and carved into pipes and ornaments. In 2013 it held the title of Turkish World Cultural Capital and UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Capital.
