A large city in northwestern Anhui Province where the Ying River runs through the urban centre before joining the Huai River to the south, Fuyang holds several nationally listed intangible cultural heritage traditions, including Jieshou painted pottery, the Yingshang flower-drum lantern dance, Huanggang willow weaving, and Du-style copper engraving. Historically known as Yinzhou and Yingzhou, it sits at the edge of the Huaibei Plain and represents the Huai River cultural sphere.
