Gharyan
Libya
The largest town on the Nafusa Mountains in northwestern Libya, Gharyan sits high on a ridge a short drive south of Tripoli, reached by a winding mountain road that climbs sharply from the plains below. It serves as the administrative centre for the western mountain region and is home to the headquarters of the Republic Bank, one of Libya's largest financial institutions.
