This city on the Warta River in western Poland, Gorzów Wielkopolski has a dense café and restaurant scene and is known for its strong tradition in speedway racing. Founded in 1257, it spent most of its history as part of German Brandenburg before becoming Polish after World War II. Two large forest areas flank the city — Gorzów Woods to the north and Noteć Woods to the southeast — offering green space and scenic surrounds close to the urban centre.
