The medieval granaries lining the Vistula riverbank are Grudziądz's most striking feature — a row of Gothic and Baroque structures declared a Historic Monument of Poland and included on the European Route of Brick Gothic. This northern Polish city, founded over a thousand years ago, has a walkable Old Town with cafés and restaurants, and a history as a former royal city and home of the Polish Cavalry Training Centre, earning it the nickname "City of Uhlans."
