Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province in southwest China, sits on the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau at high elevation, surrounded by mountains and forests, with the Nanming River running through the city. Established as provincial capital in 1413 during the Ming dynasty, it has a significant Miao and Bouyei ethnic minority presence and serves as a practical base for exploring the region's mountains, caves, and minority cultures. The city is also an emerging hub for big data and technology development.
