Hallingby
Norway
A tiny village in Ringerike municipality, Buskerud, sitting along the E16 route toward Valdres and western Norway, with mountain terrain and lake access nearby. Its main landmark is Hval Church, an octagonal timber structure built in 1862 to designs by architect Christian Heinrich Grosch, with bells cast by J. Warner & Sons in London and an altarpiece copying Adolph Tidemand's 1871 painting of the Resurrection. The village was also once served by the Sperillbanen, a now-abandoned railway that ran through Ringerike.
