Herceg Novi
Црна Гора · Montenegro
Founded in 1382 by the Bosnian king Tvrtko I Kotromanić, Herceg Novi sits at the western entrance to the Bay of Kotor, with Mount Orjen rising behind it. Centuries of Ottoman and Venetian rule left a layered architectural mix across a walkable centre with a dense food-and-drink scene. Vineyards surround the town, scenic viewpoints overlook the bay, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
