A city on the western bank of the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar's Ayeyarwady Region, Hinthada has a centre with a notable concentration of historic churches. The city also functions as a significant river port, with rice and grain from the surrounding region moving through its docks, and serves as the administrative seat of both Hinthada Township and Hinthada District.
