Hirvensalmi

This lake-laced municipality in Finland's South Savo region, Hirvensalmi is largely defined by water — roughly a third of its area is lakes and waterways, with lake Puula to the north and lake Suontee to the west. Often described as an island municipality, it draws summer visitors from southern Finland who come to stay on its many islands, effectively doubling the local population each season. The annual Tervaleppä festival takes place here every summer.
