Hrisey
Iceland
This compact island in Eyjafjörður, off Iceland's north coast, is known for its wildlife and birdlife, and has been continuously inhabited since the Settlement of Iceland. One of the larger islands in the country, it is reached from the mainland and offers walking across a compact landscape of water and low terrain. The village sits at the island's southern end, a short ferry ride north of Akureyri.
