Birthplace of the novelist Theodor Storm, who called it "the grey town by the sea," Husum is a walkable North Sea town in Schleswig-Holstein with a café-filled centre, historic churches, and a waterfront setting on the North Frisian coast. Since 1987 it has hosted the international piano festival Raritäten der Klaviermusik, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
