Isiro

Isiro, the capital of DR Congo's Haut-Uele Province in the northeast, sits at the boundary between equatorial forest and savannah, with its economy built on robusta coffee plantations that have earned it the nickname "capital of green gold." The city is home to the Blessed Anuarite Sanctuary, a national Catholic shrine dedicated to Marie-Clémentine Anuarite Nengapeta, undergoing significant transformation since 2019, and hosts the University of Uélé, founded in 1998.
