A coastal city in Santa Catarina, Brazil, at the mouth of the Itajaí-Açu River, Itajaí holds the title of Brazil's national fishing capital, awarded in 2023, and is the country's leading hub for nautical tourism. Its port is among the largest in Brazil, and the city builds a significant share of the country's vessels, including ships for the Brazilian Navy. Itajaí is also a regular stop on The Ocean Race, the long-running international sailing regatta, with editions scheduled through at least 2031–32.
