Itezhi-Tezhi

Itezhi-Tezhi, in Zambia's Southern Province, grew up around the Itezhi-Tezhi Dam, built on the Kafue River in the early 1970s to regulate water flow for the Kafue Gorge Upper Power Station downstream. The town sits on the border of Kafue National Park, making it a practical base for visiting one of Africa's largest game reserves. The dam and the electricity company ZESCO remain the economic centre of the community.
