Jableh
Syria
This Mediterranean coastal town in northwestern Syria, Jableh holds the tomb and mosque of Ibrahim Bin Adham, a Sufi mystic who, according to tradition, renounced his throne in Balkh to devote himself to prayer. The town's ancient predecessor, Gabala, was a Byzantine archbishopric and remains a Latin Catholic titular see. Jableh sits between the coast and mountain terrain, roughly midway between Latakia and Baniyas.
