Jiujiang

Jiangxi Province · China

Sitting on the southern bank of the Yangtze River with Poyang Lake — China's largest freshwater lake — within its borders, Jiujiang is a large port city in northwest Jiangxi Province with a long history of international trade. One of the first cities opened to foreign commerce along the Yangtze under Deng Xiaoping's reforms, it holds the title of Famed National Historical and Cultural City, granted in 2022 for its Republican-era history and multicultural heritage. Lushan, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lies in the wider region.
