Junagadh
Junagadh · India
Junagadh, a city in Gujarat on the Arabian Sea, sits at the foot of the Girnar hills and serves as the only base for seeing wild Asiatic lions, which survive nowhere else. The city's name translates as "Old Fort," and it has a history that includes a brief dispute between India and Pakistan before joining India in November 1947. It is also a trading centre for gold and silver embroidery, perfume, and copper and brass vessels.
