Kabompo
Zambia
A town on the Kabompo River in north-western Zambia, surrounded by teak forest and known for honey production. A house in the township where Kenneth Kaunda, Zambia's first post-independence president, was held under colonial restriction from March to July 1959 is preserved as a national monument. The district also holds the Chikata waterfall and rapids at Kavinde village, and traditional ceremonies including Lukwakwa, Mbuda Liyoyelo, and Chiweka take place here.
