Kaeo
New Zealand
A compact township in New Zealand's Far North District, Kaeo sits in mountain terrain beside the Kaio River, with the surrounding hills and waterway shaping its character. Its Māori name comes from the word for the native freshwater mussel found in local rivers. A new bridge on State Highway 10, opened in 2024, improved access across the Kaio River for this quiet settlement roughly northwest of Kerikeri.
