Sitting at the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers in south-central British Columbia, Kamloops is a city with a walkable, café-lined centre, scenic surroundings, and a strong claim to mountain biking history — it is often described as the birthplace of freeride mountain biking and is home to Canada's largest municipal bike park. The city also promotes itself as the Tournament Capital of Canada, hosting well over a hundred sporting events each year, and serves as a stop on VIA Rail's transcontinental route.
