Kawthaung
Myanmar (Burma)
Myanmar's southernmost town, Kawthaung sits on the border with Thailand across from Ranong, separated by the Pakchan River. Known as Victoria Point during British rule between 1824 and 1948, it serves as one of seven official border trade posts between the two countries. The town is set against forested hills and has water access on its eastern side, where the river mouth is wide enough for large vessels.
