Khenifra
Province de Khenifra · Morocco
Sitting on the Oum Er-Rbia River and ringed by four peaks of the Middle Atlas, Khenifra is a city in north-central Morocco with a distinct Amazigh Zayane identity. It served as the capital of the Zayane tribes and was the site of the 1914 Battle of El Herri, in which Zayane forces under Moha ou Hammou Zayani defeated French colonial troops. The surrounding Atlas Mountains make it a base for highland exploration.
