Kijong-dong is a Potemkin village inside the Korean Demilitarized Zone, widely referred to outside North Korea as "Propaganda Village." One of only two settlements permitted to remain within the DMZ established under the 1953 Korean War armistice, it sits in the North Korean half of that buffer zone and is visible from the South Korean side. North Korea calls it Peace Village. Its counterpart on the southern side, Daeseong-dong, lies a short distance away.
