Two rivers run through Kilmacrenan — the Leannan along its southern edge and the Lorgaidh to the north — giving this little County Donegal village its waterside character. Nearby Carraig Dhún is the rock where the kings of Tír Chonaill were crowned between 1200 and 1603, and the Battle of Kilmacrenan was fought close by in 1608 during O'Doherty's Rebellion. The village sits on the N56 between Letterkenny and the northwest of the county, with mountains within easy reach.
