Kingston

Nicknamed the "Limestone City" for its many heritage buildings constructed from local limestone, Kingston sits where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River and the Rideau Canal in Ontario, Canada. The waterfront city has a heritage-dense centre with a strong café and restaurant scene, and lies between the Prince Edward County and Thousand Islands tourist regions. John A. Macdonald, Canada's first prime minister, lived here, and Kingston briefly served as the first capital of the United Province of Canada in 1841.
